SUPERMAN'S PAL JIMMY OLSEN 84, April 1965, was published on February 25, 1965. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of 12¢. The editor was Mort Weisinger, and the cover was pencilled Curt Swan, inked by George Klein and lettered by Ira Schnapp. It featured the first of the issue's three stories.

  1. Of the stories in this issue, my strongest boyhood memory is of the last one, "Jimmy Olsen's Female Fan". Jimmy Olsen seemed to enjoy dressing like a woman in those days. I remember thinking, even when I first read it at 9 years old, that Jackie Oliver was Jimmy Olsen, based on the initials and the red hair. I was certain that one of the members of the fan club would figure out it was him, because of his Adam's apple, because that was often a big clue to expose someone dressing as the opposite sex back in Silver Age stories. Well, that didn't seem to be the big clue this time, so maybe writer Otto Binder decided that this was too chliched a plot device. At least Tommy Todd did figure it out. Good job, Tommy.
