Action Comics 309, February 1964! |
Download Episode 324 Part II!
ACTION COMICS 309 (which I mistakenly referred to as issue 308), February 1964 was published around December 26, 1963. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of 12¢. Mort Weisinger was the editor, and the cover was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by Sheldon Moldoff.
- The 14 page Superman story was titled, THE SUPERMAN SUPER-SPECTACULAR, written by Edmond Hamilton, pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by George Klein. This story was also reprinted in SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERMAN vol. IV, and was the final story in that volume.
- The 12 page Supergirl story was titled, THE UNTOLD TALE OF ARGO CITY, written by Leo Dorfman and drawn by Jim Mooney. This story was also reprinted in ADVENTURE COMICS 416, March 1972 and SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERGIRL vol. II.
Also highlighted in this episode are this issues ads and other features, including the METROPOLIS MAILBAG letter column. This podcast also received a new e-mail.
Elsewhere in DC Comics, 30 titles carried the February or February/March 1964 cover date, according to Mike's Amazing World Of Comics.
Next episodes will feature: THE SUPERMAN FAMILY COMIC BOOKS COVER DATED APRIL 1961: PART I: SUPERMAN'S GIRL FRIEND LOIS LANE 24 & PART II: SUPERMAN'S PAL JIMMY OLSEN 52!
Then we will return to: THE SUPERMAN COMIC BOOK COVER DATED MARCH 1964: ACTION COMICS 310!
