And don't forget to take care of each other out there!
Wow! It's always a wild ride with "Zany" Haney, isn't it? So much twisted "pretzel logic" that absolutely will not stand up to scrutiny. So much completely out-of-character behavior by well-established characters. So many unexplained "violations" of long-standing elements of "comic book science" (like using gold, rather than lead, to block kryptonite radiation). I can certainly understand why many fans dislike Haney's work, but, if you're in the right frame of mind, his stories can be taken as just silly, zany, almost imaginary stories. They're cotton candy for the mind --- not very nourishing, really, and a steady diet of them couldn't be very good for you, but a fun treat from time to time.
ReplyDeleteI always try to laugh with, not at, the crazier silver age stories, but this was a hard one to do that with, especially with his portrayal of women. But it can be fun to just appreciate their craziness, most of the time.
