Download Episode 369 Part I!

WORLD'S FINEST COMICS 141, May 1964, published on March 12, 1964. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of 12¢. This issue marks Mort Weisinger's first issue as series editor. The cover was pencilled by Curt Swan, inked by George Klein and lettered by Ira Schnapp.

- The 17 page Superman/Batman story was titled, THE OLSEN-ROBIN TEAM VERSUS THE SUPERMAN-BATMAN TEAM. Part I was eight pages long. The writer was Edmund Hamilton, pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by George Klein. This story was also reprinted in WORLD'S FINEST COMICS 225, September/October 1974, published on June 18, 1974. (I mistakenly said 1975 during the recording.) It contained 100 pages for the cover price of 60¢. It was also reprinted in EVEN MORE SECRET ORIGINS 1, SHOWCASE PRESENTS: ROBIN THE BOY WONDER, SHOWCASE PRESENTS: WORLD'S FINEST vol. II and DC UNIVERSE: SECRET ORIGINS.

- Part II: THE VENGEANCE OF SUPERMAN AND BATMAN (9 pgs.).

- THE IRRESISTIBLE LOIS LANE, writer unknown according to Mike's Amazing World Of DC Comics, while the Grand Comic Book Database and the Comic Book Database credit Robert Bernstein. The story was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by Stan Kaye. It was originally published in SUPERMAN'S GIRL FRIEND LOIS LANE 29, November 1961, published on September 21, 1961 (six days before my first birthday). This story would also be reprinted in SUPERMAN FAMILY 171, June/July 1975, published on March 11, 1975. It contained 64 pages for the cover price of 50¢.

Also highlighted in the episode are the ads and other features, including the COMING SUPER ATTRACTIONS column. Among other things it solicited ideas for the name of an upcoming letters column for this series. If you're like me and know the name of that letter column, comment on this episode or send an e-mail, and you'll be immortalized on the internet when I read your names on the episode when we cover the first WORLD'S FINEST COMICS letter column.

  1. Plan "L" for "Lois" really is incredibly over-complicated, as you point out, but that's part of the charm, I guess, of many Silver Age stories, as long as you don't have to read too many like that in a short time. You mentioned other such "Plans" Superman had prearranged with his friends, and were wondering about Plan "J" for "Jimmy". That was the (I think) better story of "The Helmet of Hate" in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #68, cover-dated April, 1963, which you covered in your Episode #355, Part II, from November 5, 2016.
Also, if I recall correctly, the letter column for World's Finest Comics was called "Cape and Cowl Comments", illustrated with Superman's cape and Batman's cowl.

    1. I figured you'd know the name of World's Finest's letter column, and we're both right. Thanks for the info about "Plan J".
