In your commentary on the first story, "Super-Mite", you wondered if Don-El, of the Superman Emergency Squad was related to Superman. He was, indeed! He was Superman's first cousin, just as Supergirl was. Don-El's father was Nim-El, identical twin brother of Jor-El. Thus, like Patty and Cathy Lane, on the old Patty Duke TV show, as children of identical twins, Kal-El and Nim-El were "identical cousins all the way". (Boy, for those of us who watched that show, the theme song is a genuine "ear worm".) Only on 1960s sitcoms and comic books could the concept of "identical cousins" make sense.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info! I checked his name at Mike's Amazing World Of DC Comics and found this issue of Jimmy Olsen was his first appearance. If you hadn't let me know about him I would have missed it. Thanks again!
