ACTION COMICS 312, May 1964, was published on March 26, 1964. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of 12¢. The editor was Mort Weisinger and the cover was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by George Klein, who were the art team for the Superman story in this issue.

- KING SUPERMAN VERSUS CLARK KENT, METALLO (14 pgs.), was written by Robert Bernstein. This story has not yet been reprinted by the time this episode was posted.

- Supergirl starred in the 12 page story, THE FANTASTIC MENACE OF THE L. L.'S, written by Leo Dorfman and drawn by Jim Mooney. This story has been reprinted in SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERGIRL vol. II.

  1. As I mentioned in a Facebook comment, I do love the "Pope hat" and ermine-trimmed cape that Emperor Superman wears. It's a good look for a super-powered despot. I enjoyed your take on this story, and I agree that the ending, especially for a two-parter, seemed a bit of a let-down. I remember, when I read this as a boy, thinking that, when Superman and Metallo-Clark re-merged, wouldn't the kryptonite be inside him, and wouldn't that kill him? I guess I don't understand the intricacies of Red Kryptonite as well as the writers did.
