SUPERMAN'S PAL JIMMY OLSEN 15, September 1956, was published around July 17, 1956. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of 10¢. Mort Weisinger was the editor, and the cover was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by Stan Kaye. They were the art team for all three stories, which were all written by Otto Binder and reprinted in SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERMAN FAMILY vol. I.

SUPERMAN 132, October 1959, was published around August 6, 1959. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of 10¢. Mort Weisinger was the editor, and the cover was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by Stan Kaye. 

This issue contained a rarity in the silver age, an issue length story. SUPERMAN'S OTHER LIFE (25 pgs.) was written by Otto Binder, pencilled by Wayne Boring and inked by Stan Kaye. This story has been reprinted in THE GREATEST SUPERMAN STORIES EVER TOLD, SUPERMAN: THE GREATEST STORIES EVER TOLD vol. II and SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERMAN vol. I.

- Part I: KRYPTON LIVES ON!
- Part II: FUTURO: SUPER HERO OF KRYPTON!
- Part III: SUPERMAN OF TWO WORLDS!

ACTION COMICS 257, October 1959, was published around August 27, 1959, the very day my parents got married. The issue contained 32 pages for the cover price of a dime. Mort Weisinger was the editor, and the cover was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by Stan Kaye.

- THE REPORTER OF STEEL (12 pgs.) was written by Otto Binder, pencilled by Wayne Boring and inked by Stan Kaye. This story was reprinted in SHOWCASE PRESENTS: sUPERMAN vol. I.

- Congo Bill starred in the second story of the issue, THE MAN APE SKIN DIVER (6 pgs.), written by Robert Bernstein and drawn by Howard Sherman. This was Congo Bill's 9th appearance as Congorilla.

- The 6th Supergirl solo story was titled THE THREE MAGIC WISHES, written by Otto Binder and drawn by Jim Mooney. It was reprinted in SUPERGIRL ARCHIVES vol. I and SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERGIRL vol. I.

50 years ago, 5 Superman titles were published in September 1961, the month of my 1st birthday, and carried the November 1961 cover date. They all contained 32 pages for the cover price of 10¢.

ACTION COMICS 256 (which I misidentified in the introduction as issue 258), September 1959, was published around July 30, 1959. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of a dime. The editor was Mort Weisinger, and the cover was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by Stan Kaye, the art team for the Superman story in this issue.

THE SUPERMAN OF THE FUTURE was written by Otto Binder. this 12 page story was reprinted in SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERMAN vol. I

Congo Bill starred in the second story of the issue, JANU, THE JOKER OF THE JUNGLE. This 7 page story was drawn by Howard Sherman, and was Congorilla's 8th appearance.

Supergirl's 5th solo story was THE GREAT SUPERGIRL MIRAGE. Writer Otto Binder and artist Jim Mooney created this 7 page story. Host Daniel Reed has posted his first episode of SUPERGIRL'S COSMIC ADVENTURES, at http://supergirlpodcast.blogspot.com. I have listened to it, and highly recommend it to any comic book fan.

WORLD'S FINEST COMICS #83, July/August 1956, was published around May 31, 1956. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of a dime. The editor was Jack Schiff, and the cover was pencilled by Dick Sprang and inked by Stan Kaye. At the top of the cover was a banner advertising a contest with 5,000 prizes. This contest will be discussed later in the episode.

The 12 page Superman and Batman story was titled THE CASE OF THE MOTHER GOOSE MYSTERY. it was written by Bill Finger, pencilled by Dick Sprang and inked by Stan Kaye. It was reprinted in WORLD'S FINEST COMICS ARCHIVES vol. I and SHOWCASE PRESENTS: WORLD'S FINEST ARCHIVES vol. I. Both reprint editions credit Curt Swan as the penciller of the cover, but THE GRAND COMIC BOOK DATABASE at http://comics.org noted that the credit was incorrect, and penciller Dick Sprang confirmed pencilling this particular cover.

Green Arrow starred in the 6 page second story of the issue, THE ERROR CAR, drawn by George Papp.

After this story DC published a full page house ad for a slogan contest for their comic books. Contest forms would be published in the DC titles with a September 1956 cover date. Among the 5,000 prizes available to be won were: a Columbia bike, skates, games and dolls. This contest will be covered in future episodes of this podcast.

The final 6 page story of the issue starred Tomahawk in THE TRIBE WITHOUT A CHIEF, drawn by Bob Brown.
