  1. Poor Herko! I have to say that I was interested in the cover story, "The Monster That Loved Lois Lane", more than the other stories in this issue. As you pointed out, both "Lois Lane, Cupid" and "Lois Lane, Daily Planet Editor", are pretty typical Silver Age Lois stories, and are a bit dated, nowadays. The story of Herko, though, tugs at the heartstrings. He's ripped from his home and brought to a strange world where he's regarded as a terrible monster, even attacked by Superman! He's just a lonely alien (like Superman, himself), trying to make his way in this world, with no idea if he can ever get home again. (In some ways, his story reminds me a bit of the origin story of The Martian Manhunter, who was ripped from his home and brought to Earth by Dr. Erdel's strange teleporter, with little hope of making his way back to Mars. At least J'onn J'onzz could appear human and speak English.) At the end, it's heartbreaking when Lois gets a peek at Herko pining for his lost love. *Choke* *Sob*

  2. Oh, and, when you wondered how the motorist would explain to his insurance company how his car got wrecked by Herko, don't you imagine that insurance companies in Metropolis must have some sort of checklist on their claim forms? "Check all that apply:
    1. Damage caused by superhero/supervillain battle
    2. Damage caused by alien spaceship
    3. Damage caused by one of Lex Luthor's inventions
    4. Damage caused by Mxypzptlk
    5. Damage caused by escaped Phantom Zone criminal (Specify identity, if known: e.g., Kru-El, Jax-Ur, Dru-Zod, etc.)
    5. Damage caused by minor villain (Specify villain, if known: e.g., Toyman, Prankster, etc.)
    7. Damage caused by Kryptonian under the influence of Kryptonite (specify color of Kryptonite)
    8. Damage caused by "Superman" imposter
    etc."
