Episode #41: Lex Luthor: Evil Bald Genius!

Download Episode 41!

Lex Luthor's traditional birthday is September 28, the day after I celebrate my 48th birthday. Thanks once again to the web site http://supermanhomepage.com .
We'll look at Luthor's earliest adventures, why he went from having red hair to being bald, and some of his key battles with Superman. There is one planet where Luthor is a hero, but who is a hero to Luthor?
There have been several versions of Luthor in the multiverse of the 1960's, as well as some interesting IMAGINARY STORIES involving Luthor.

Episode #40: Christopher Reeve: A Modern Superman!

Download Episode 40!

Christopher Reeve's 53rd birthday would have been on September 25, 2008. He is famous for his role as Superman and Clark Kent in four Superman movies. The best were SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE and SUPERMAN II.
One of his other best roles was in the 1980 movie SOMEWHERE IN TIME with Jane Seymour.

Christopher Reeve was a director, producer and writer
as well as an actor. After the equestrian accident that paralyzed him in 1995 he campaigned vigorously for a cure to paralysis, and for raising the quality of life for paralysis victims.

Christopher Reeve appeared in two episodes of SMALLVILLE as the reclusive quadriplegic scientist, Dr. Virgil Swann, who informed Clark about his Kryptonian heritage.

The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation can be found at http://christopherreeve.org . Superman dogtags can be purchased at http://wbstore.com . 100% of the cost goes to the foundation for paralysis research.

In this episode we explore his portrayalof Superman and Clark Kent.Check out the special features documentaries and commentaries to SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE, SUPERMAN II and SUPERMAN II: THE RICHARD DONNER CUT for more information about the creation of the Superman movies and Christopher Reeve's roles.

Episode #39: THE SUPERMAN OF 2965!

Superman 181!

Download Episode 39!

CORRECTIONS: In Episode #38, on Supergirl, I mis-identified the penciller of the story LOIS LANE'S SUPER DREAM as Curt Swan. The artist was actually Kurt Schaffenberger.
And the later Supergirl title that began with issue #14 followed the numbering of the title THE DARING NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERGIRL, which ran for 13 issues, not the original Supergirl title which ran for only ten issues.

THE SUPERMAN OF 2965 first appeared in SUPERMAN #181 (November 1965), and was published on September 16, 1965. He appeared in only four stories. The art team of Curt Swan and Geroge Klein drew all four stories. Edmund Hamilton wrote the first three stories. After SUPERMAN #181, the Superman of 2965 appeared in:

ACTION COMICS #338 (June 1966), MUTO - MONARCH OF MENACE.

ACTION COMICS #339 (July 1966), MUTO VS. THE MAN OF TOMORROW.

Jim Shooter wrote the final story in WORLD'S FINEST COMICS #166 (May 1967), THE DANGER OF THE DEADLY DUO. Muto teamed with Joker XX, while the Superman of 2965 (2967 at this point) teamed up with the Batman of 2965.
